In all things, choose wisely

A hush blanketed my fractured heart after the shock and sadness of so many lives ended and so many lives altered forever. Even still my mind cried out a barrage of messages of outrage and anger, sadness and community, comfort and hope, sounding as muddled and noisy as the posts overwhelming my Facebook feed.

Macro photo of fallen maple leaf on weathered wood. In reaction to tragedy let us find the light within and make it grow with our attention and love.I listened deeply for the small still voice within letting familiar ideas bubble up inside me.

My beliefs.

My guiding principles.

My mantras.

I tell them to myself again, to remind me that there is a way to light and peace even through darkness and pain. And I share them with you to spark that light into being, into spreading.

I believe that energy is everything and that everything is energy.

We can nudge that energy into exactly the reality we want to have. We get to choose.

I believe that where we look is where we’ll go.

More than that, our attention feeds whatever we send it to, like light feeds a plant. Choose wisely.

I believe that small is big.

We access the Divine within through the small. We glimpse the Infinite in the most intimate details. We connect with each other through tiny acts. May those acts be guided by kindness and love.

I believe that the words we share with each other are carried and amplified through the eyes and voices of all who witness and share.

Those words can add Beauty and light to the world, or they can roar with darkness and anger. Whichever we choose, grows. Choose wisely.

My hope is that these words are not more noise added to the conundrum, but a drop of delicate peace that may grow into a warm loving light that we can send out to the world together, on the wings of butterflies.
